Are you in love with all things Nutcracker and ballet? Well, consider theming your Christmas around this popular Christmas time theme. We’ll show you how to set the Christmas table, wrap your gifts, trim your tree and style your sweet treats to suit this theme.
The table has been set with a plain white linen tablecloth and then overlayed with some star tulle fabric from Spotlight.
A glitzy gold runner from Typo adds some sparkle but as an alternative you could use wrapping paper in gold and white . The floral centrepiece is a mix of faux and real flowers. The faux can be done ahead of time and then just a few fresh blooms the day before Christmas to add freshness. Scatter the table with LOVE and JOY acrylic decorations.
The placesettings are simple but stylish. We layered a gold foil paper plate on top of a china plate, then added a mint green napkin. Add a nutcracker Christmas cracker and a matching cupcake at each place setting to bring in the nutcracker theming.
We also had some cookies made to match the Nutcracker crackers by Jess at Little Biscuit.
For a bit of fun, serve your guests a refreshing drink in a nutcracker cup, complete with gold foil straw. Make life easy for yourself and have everything laid out on a white tray before guests arrive.
Make your Christmas decorating so much easier by wrapping your gifts in similar colours and patterns to suit the Nutcracker theme. That way they add to the overall decorating around the house without giving you extra work.
We created a sideboard of tempting treats that complimented a soft whimsical look. We included macaron towers, a pumpkin spice butter cake, cupcakes and marshmallows. The Nutcracker soldiers are from Big W.
This macaron tower by One Bite Macarons is a classic Christmas tree shape.
We topped it with a sparkly gold star topper to accentuate Christmas.
These gorgeous cupcakes can be made using the Nutcracker Cupcake kit and then adding tulle cupcake skirts.
Have some sweet Christmas paper plates and napkins on hand for the sweet treats to save on washing up.
Many of the items you need to create this look can be bought from our online store or from large easy to find retailers. We’ve even created a collection of Nutcracker decorations, wrapping supplies and partyware at our online store to make shopping super quick and easy.

Are you hosting Christmas this year and are looking for inspiration on how to set a Christmas table? Do you need some ideas on how to style your food, gifts and decorations to create a magical Christmas for your family and friends? Well read on because here we show you how to easily create an Alpine Inspired Christmas using a colour scheme that includes festive green, gold and charcoal partyware, gift wrapping and decorations to give you a fresh alpine feel.
The table has been set with a soft grey linen tablecloth and then overplayed with a grey fabric tablerunner. The centrepiece has been created with a wreath of real fir leaves. In the middle of the wreath sits a glass candle holder that we have filled with Christmas baubles. So effective and so easy! They come in 2 sizes and we have used 3 on this table, the 26cm one in the middle and 2 of the 16cm ones either side.
These glass candle holders are a must have for any occasion. Remove the baubles after Christmas and use year round filled with greenery, flowers, shells or anything that suits your decor or party theme.
The place settings have been created with simple silver cutlery, glassware and plates. Layer plates to add dimension to the setting. These plates are from Kmart but you could use any to suit the table setting or even consider using round paper plates in lovely glitzy colours to achieve the same effect at a lower cost.
The finishing touches are provided by the hand made Christmas crackers made with giftwrap, a green wreath made from a fresh stalk of rosemary and an acrylic love or joy decoration that your guests can take home.
Don’t make the sweet treats too overly complicated. You can buy fantastic store bought treats these days and then simply spend time displaying them in a lovely way. Most of the treats below are from Coles Supermarket.
Use different height cake plates to display your traditional Christmas treats.
Luxury Christmas puddings and nougat from Coles.
Mince Pies and Chocolate sticks from Coles.
Luxury mini fruit cakes from Coles.
We made this butter cake, iced it with butter cream and finished it with desiccated coconut. The cake topper is simply 3 pieces of rosemary placed upside down to look like mini Christmas trees. The acrylic fillable cake stand makes the perfect accessory, we filled it with pine cones but you could add Christmas baubles, flowers or anything to suit your decor. These are a must have item that you can use at every kids party, occasion or event as the look changes depending on what you fill it with.

This alpine hunter green wrap is perfect for this Christmas them and it looks fabulous trimmed with gold.
One last decorating tip is for your front entrance. Make sure it is decorated in your theme to welcome your guests on Christmas Day.
Lastly, once the work is done, sit back and and remember that this really is “the most wonderful time of the year”.
Happy Christmas everyone xx
